Dental Care in Warsaw, IN

At Hollar Dental Group our team focuses on preventative care to keep our patient’s teeth healthy and pain-free, but when tooth pain strikes it needs to be treated as soon as possible. This pain is usually caused by tooth decay, and if left untreated, can lead to more serious dental issues. If a tooth has decay leading deep into the enamel, it may require a root canal. We know it can sound scary, but our doctors have extensive backgrounds and experience in the field, so our patients feel informed and comfortable during the procedure. Learn more about root canals and contact our office as soon as possible if you are experiencing tooth pain.

When Is a Root Canal Needed?

Most people need to have a cavity filled at least once in their lifetime. A cavity occurs when there is some decay on the enamel of the tooth. This decay can burrow deeper into the tooth if it is not taken care of right away. The damage becomes too great to be filled and the dentist must perform a root canal. During a root canal, the decayed pulp is extracted from the tooth in order to preserve the tooth.

How Is a Root Canal Done?

  1. Anesthesia is used to put the patient under and the tooth is isolated with a dental dam.
  2. The tooth is opened, cleaned out, and the canals are reshaped.
  3. Biocompatible filling is put in the tooth and a temporary cover is placed over the opening.
  4. The patient MUST visit their regular dentist to permanently restore the tooth.
